On this upcoming Friday, we will continue the Gambeat series of events with DJ Lemonella. We aim to create an innovative and captivating experience that combines the intellectual challenge of chess with the emotional power of music.

Born in South Africa and based in Berlin, Lemonella portrays a particular kind of feeling that’s warm and refreshing like the sunshine, yet cheeky and sensual like a late night cabaret.

Having a vast musical collection and a multitude of influences (downtempo, disco, house, minimal & break-beat), Lemonella is not defined by genre but rather by her uncompromising feeling and a honed intuition for what the dancefloor needs.

She can play a high-energy peak time set just as easily as she can a chillout or ambient set (where she is known to add some of her spoken word into the mix), and everything in between. Whatever the context, her richly textured musical stories show how she is unafraid to wear her soul on her sleeve. Her sets and productions are characteristically poetic, with an intelligence that can weave deep and melancholic sounds together with the lighter, sunnier sides of life.

Lemonella has been playing at some of Berlin and Europe’s best clubs and festivals, as well as having toured in Mexico and South Africa. She released her first 6 track EP entitled ’Garden of Delight’ in 2020 and the two Singles ’Star Sailor’ and ’Undiscovered Colour’ in the fall of 2021. She has also been steadily winning hearts over through her various podcast projects, most notably the ‘Plant Poetry’ mix series.
